VALID's Cornish Pathfinder project has just gone live
with residents from Kerrier and Penwith District Councils now able
to report and enquire on abandoned vehicles over the Internet. The
user-friendly Citizen portal will manage the rural access component
of the Cornish Key vision.
The solution, R/KYV (pronounced 'archive') V9, an
integrated Records and Document Management solution with Web portal
and ASP functionality, provides full e-Government compliance based
on XML. Using R/KYV, Council staff and residents can view details
relating to abandoned vehicles via a Web browser.
This obviates the need for Council staff to have back
office systems loaded and the requirement for a call centre.
The product will reduce the number of calls made to
Environmental Control staff and enable its call centre staff to
deal with routine enquiries.
The VALID solution has linked back and front office
systems on a number of platforms to enable portal access to information
which will be developed to extend the use of smart cards.
Longer term the Cornish Key Partnership, comprising
Caradon, Carrick, Kerrier, Penwith District Councils and Cornwall
County and Restormel Borough Council intend to develop Cornish Key
to provide the umbrella for electronic access to public services
via a pan-Cornwall extranet.
