Award-winning Document Management software supplier
Valid Information Systems has acquired Top Tech UK, formerly Simdell
EDMS - a major supplier of 'best-of-breed' business solutions for
the Local Authority market including the London Boroughs of Havering
and Croydon.
The demise of South Africa -based Top Tech caused its UK subsidiary,
Top Tech UK to bring in the administrators with the result that
Ilford-based EDMS Valid Information System was able to acquire the
company, its 12 programmers and marketing and sales team, at a cost
of £500,000. By late Friday evening on March 23rd the deal
was in place for VALID to take over Top-Tech's business and re-employ
all the staff.
The consolidation of the two businesses will provide a rich source
of solutions for Local Authorities looking for specialist systems
to automate all areas of Local Government and comply with e-Government
guidelines. Top Tech's headquarters in Coventry will provide VALID
with a central base from which to serve its nationwide clientele.
Although VALID is a relative newcomer to the Local Government market,
last year it topped the SOCITM Survey (Society for IT Managers)
of Document Management systems within the public sector. Now supplying
a number of authorities with Web-based solutions VALID continues
to introduce pioneering systems with clients such as Suffolk County
Council running one of the first virtual committee meetings using
VALID software. This was followed by Stockport Metropolitan Council
placing a £1.2m order with VALID to install a corporate solution.

of Stockport Metropolitan Council,. "We are a very large organisation
responsible for providing a huge range of services for a population
of about 300,000 citizens. At the touch of a button an official
will have immediate access to the right information, and they will
be able to respond much more rapidly and effectively. Successful
businesses use new technology to increase their efficiency - the
public also deserves a high level of efficiency from the Council,
and we see this as the way forward for the future."
VALID also recently announced a strategic partnership with Capita
Business Services who are embedding VALID's technologies into their
core applications with a view to enlarging its application service
provision to the Local Authority market.
